JIDA AKIL

THEATRE DESIGN

WORK       SKILLS       ABOUT       CONTACT

Jida Akil is a Syrian/Lebanese set & costume designer. She graduated from Central Saint Martins with First Class Honours and has worked closely with notable companies such as the Young Vic and Complicité. Her designs have also been selected for exhibitions with the Prague Quadrennial and World Stage Design.

Jida is keen to explore new writing, devising, and new choreography. Coming from a background of architecture, fine arts, music, and dance, she aims to integrate her skills into a multi-disciplinary design practice which also interrogates the potential of multi-media performance. Jida also prioritizes collaborating with performance-makers and on projects of the global majority and underrepresented groups.

Jida is a member of Scene-Change, Whitecard Collective, MENA Arts UK, Stage Sight, and CYCSTAT.
She was also a resident designer at NDT Broadgate (2021-22)
